This portion of our web site will assist you with the major steps involved in obtaining grant funding: mapping out a fundable grant project; locating a suitable funding source; writing an effective proposal; and finally, having your proposal reviewed internally and then submitted to the funder.

If you are mapping out a potential grant project, you are welcome to use the series of guides located under Planning Your Grant Project. If searching for a potential funding source, you'll find hundreds of funding sources listed in Illinois Researcher Information Service and Community of Science, Inc. (see Funding Databases under the Searching for Grant Funding option). Are you suffering from grant writer's block? You may find the numerous links under Advice for Grant Writers helpful.

If you are already engaged in writing a grant proposal, see the Essential Guidelines and Information option for frequently requested cover page information, background information about DePaul, and guidelines for preparing your budget. The Budget Worksheet opens as an Excel file that will automatically calculate benefits and indirect costs and total the budget categories as you enter budget items. (Or feel free to contact OSPR for help with your proposal budget.)

Please refer any questions or comments regarding the Obtaining Grant Funding pages to the OSPR Associate Director for Pre-Award Services at 312-362-6594.
